Yes, the name is intentional and once you know Laura’s background you’ll get the pun.

Laura is a highly skilled musical instrument repair and service specialist. Busted Bassoon? Laura will fix it; Defective Drum? Not a problem; Tarnished Tuba? It’ll be returned like new. She also converts instruments into furniture such as, amongst others, Trumpets and Flutes as light fittings and a hollowed out Double Bass as a TV console table.

The COVID-19 pandemic took its toll on the music industry and, in the agonising absence of live music events, the demand for Laura’s services took a hit. Quite simply, bands and orchestras weren’t allowed to play and therefore instruments didn’t need servicing or repairing.

Laura’s first foray into building custom guitars was a hand built Les Paul for her brother-in-laws birthday. Having never built a guitar before, I’m not quite sure how she arrived at that decision, but thank goodness she did because it was the start of a very special journey.

She subsequently decided to enter the Great Guitar Build Off, of course. Competing against many well establish and reputable guitar manufactures from across the globe, her second ever guitar build won! I reiterate - this was only the second guitar she had ever built!

That guitar was a cow - literally a Jersey cow. Who goes from building a Les Paul to a cow, let alone enter it into an international competition? She then made a bespoke Dennis the Menace bass guitar for a client.

Laura’s guitars are in demand and her creation in these images is part of the Great Guitar Build Off invitational - these entries were sold on eBay to raise money for charity. Laura elected to build a poppy themed guitar with the proceeds, rather fittingly, going to The Royal British Legion.

The guitar in her images raised £1000 for charity.

Not only is Laura one of the most skilled individuals you may meet, she is the most lovely and funny person to be around.
